    TAYLOR TALKS BUCKEYES' OFFER

On Friday morning, Ohio State made sure they didn't fall too far behind in the race for 2018 Springfield, Ohio star Leonard Taylor, who had just made a big visit to Michigan last weekend. The Buckeyes offered the 6-foot-6, 260-pounder on Friday morning.

For Taylor, who admits he grew up a Buckeye fan, he says the experience was a bit surreal.

"Coach Meyer himself offered me," Taylor told 11W. "It's crazy. He was like 'I have good news for you' and I was like 'what good news?' He was like 'Leonard, you have just received an offer from The Ohio State University."

Now with almost 10 offers, Taylor's recruitment is bound to get even crazier. As mentioned, he visited Michigan last weekend and he'll be at Ohio State this approaching weekend.

"I can't wait to get up there this weekend," Taylor, whose uncle, Ormonde Ricketts, was a team captain under Woody Hayes, said. "I want to see how practice goes, how I feel in the community, where I would I fit in and what the coaches are like."

One of the coaches that Taylor has already gotten to know well is new offensive line coach Greg Studrawa, who is in charge of his recruiting. It was Studrawa who was working to get him his early offer from the team he grew up rooting for.

"Coach Stud and I have a real good relationship," Taylor said. "He was working to get me my offer."

Taylor is the third in-state prospect in the 2018 class to get an offer from Ohio State, joining athlete Jaelen Gill and offensive lineman Jack Carman.

Even though the Ohio State coaching staff is fully invested in adding another solid group of future Buckeyes in 2017, that doesn't mean they aren't taking the time out to keep up with top 2018 recruits. On Friday afternoon, Urban Meyer personally offered not just one of the most sought-after sophomores in the state of Ohio, he dished out a full ride scholarship opportunity to the second-rated defensive tackle and 20th overall recruit in the country, according to the 247Sports recruiting rankings.

"It feels great to have an offer from OSU," Springfield standout Leonard Taylor told Land-Grant Holy Land over the weekend. "Coach Meyer told me. He was joking like 'we have a good academic program.' Then he was like. 'you have received an offer from Ohio State,'" the 6'6, 260-pound Taylor added on how his Buckeye offer went down.

An Ohio native, Taylor, like many homegrown prospects, knows what it means to pick up an offer from the Buckeyes. With plenty of time left before he signs on the dotted line with a college, Ohio State currently has the inside track over Michigan and many other solid college football programs.

"A lot of teams are going to start looking at me, but it puts OSU at the top of my list. They have a good business program," Taylor said.

Before shutting his recruitment down, Taylor, who will visit Ohio State on the 26th, has a number of things he is searching for in a school.

"How practice goes, how do I feel in the community, would I fit in, and what the coaches are like," he said.

With offers on the table to not just Taylor, but numerous other elite juniors, Ohio State has still yet to receive their first 2018 verbal pledge. Could that soon change? Stay with Land-Grant Holy Land for the latest.

Taylor is listed at 6'6'' 258 pounds on 247. I believe he will be no lighter than 285 by the time he is a Freshman in College. I doubt he stays at DE. Especially if we can get him and Xavier Thomas in the same class.

I see Taylor as more of a DeForest Buckner type of DT. Buckner was 6'7'' 238 as a recruit.

I'd go higher, only because his HS coach had a nice pipeline running to ttun when he was at Trotwood

I didn't realize they have Trotwood's old coach...I was wondering where this push to ttun was coming from. He seems to really like Ohio State.

This will be his 3rd season coming up. They've went from maybe 1 kid with D1 offers to multiple kids in a very short time
