KJ HENRY TALKS INTEREST WITH RIVALS

Clemmons, North Carolina defensive end KJ Henry has racked up a number of big-time offers in the last few weeks, including one from Ohio State.

Henry, the country's second-ranked defensive in the 2018 class, talked with Rivals.com about his offers and spent a little time discussing the success of Larry Johnson's defensive linemen and the Buckeyes' program in general.

Ohio State had success recruiting Tyquan Lewis from North Carolina in 2013. However, that was right on the edge of the the rapid-rise by Clemson – where half of Henry's current crystal ball predictions reside – and other schools in the Carolinas that will make it more difficult to land him.

KJ Henry announces Ohio State visit this week

One of the highest rated DE's in the 2018 class announced a visit to Ohio State this week. KJ Henry's (Clemmons, NC / West Forsyth) announcement came as a somewhat surprise, as he has not yet received a scholarship offer from the Buckeyes.

Ohio State will likely have more room in its 2018 recruiting class than this year, so if Wednesday's visit goes well, expect an offer to follow shortly for the No. 2 rated weak-side defensive end. Henry has been receiving more attention as of late, which includes some visits to the schools that have offered the North Carolina native.

As of now, he has 17 offers already this year, including the likes Michigan, Alabama, Florida, Georgia, South Carolina, Clemson, Florida State, North Carolina and Louisville.

The visit will the fifth in Henry's recruitment process, and the first time to Ohio State. The four-star DE has already visited Tennessee, North Carolina, South Carolina and will be visiting Louisville today.

KJ Henry | Clemmons (N.C.) West Forsyth |★★★★★
Another 5-star prospect with an Ohio State offer, Henry’s recruitment could be a battle among the Buckeyes, Alabama and Clemson. You may as well get used to hearing about those three schools going head-to-head for the country’s best players.

Henry, 6-foot-5 and 235 pounds, holds offers from everyone who’s anyone and he visited Ohio State in November for the first time. Clemson kind of owns the Carolina coast right now, but the Buckeyes found Tyquan Lewis in 2013 in North Carolina and maybe that can help here.

The key in recruiting a player from this far away? Get him back on campus this spring or summer, with his family, and then let the chips fall where they may.

Ohio State makes the cut for 5-star DE KJ Henry
One of the best defensive end prospects in America released his Top 10 on Wednesday night and Ohio State was on the list.

The Clemmons (N.C.) West Forsyth star is rated a 5-star prospect and the No. 2 weakside defensive end in the class of 2018 by 247Sports. He visited Ohio State twice last year, once in the summer and once for the Michigan game, but there’s been little talk connecting the two sides since. He recently visited Clemson and Alabama and both are expected to remain on Forsyth’s list when he trims it to less than 10.

    FIVE-STAR DEFENSIVE END K.J. HENRY

K.J. Henry's recruitment, meanwhile, has more so taken the shape of the staff's pursuit of Browning. He recently included Ohio State among his top four schools, but the Buckeyes were the lone program north of the Mason-Dixon Line. Clemson is widely considered the favorite, and numerous trips to Death Valley have the national champion Tigers on the verge of landing his pledge.

Ohio State already holds one commitment from a defensive end in Georgia four-star Brenton Cox, and remains in the hunt for Pennsylvania five-star Micah Parsons and Cleveland Heights four-star Tyreke Smith. If Cox were to open things back up, Parsons re-up with Penn State or Smith spurn the Buckeyes for the California sun anytime soon, Henry could be the answer at a position of great need.
