    THERE'S STILL HOPE

On the heels of a surprise visit for Tuesday's camp, Bradenton, Florida, IMG Academy four-star cornerback Houston Griffith included Ohio State in his Top 7 alongside Alabama, Florida State, Nebraska, Notre Dame, Penn State and Texas.

The 6-foot-1, 192-pound Griffith is considered the eighth-best cornerback and No. 51 prospect overall in the Class of 2018, as he recorded 15 tackles and seven pass breakups to help the Ascenders to their second-consecutive undefeated season last year.

Griffith was once considered Ohio State's top target at the cornerback position and made two trips to Columbus in a matter of five months. However, the two sides grew apart as the Buckeyes have put more focus into Texas five-star Anthony Cook and Florida four-star Tyson Campbell this spring.

That interest was obviously rekindled with yesterday's visit, but the Fighting Irish remain the favorite in his recruitment at this point in time.

Houston Griffith not ruling out Buckeyes

The Buckeyes have three defensive backs committed and are still chasing the aforementioned Cook (and 5-star DB Tyson Campbell) with vigor. But IMG Academy 4-star prospect Houston Griffith is hoping people don’t forget about his interest in Ohio State.

“Everything has been going really well,” Griffith told Land of 10. “I talk to Ohio State every day, pretty much.”

Last on campus for a one-day camp with coaches in June, Griffith says that he’ll be back in town in early September.

“Oklahoma,” he said when asked if he’ll make an official visit to Ohio State. “Coach [Urban] Meyer and Coach [Kerry] Coombs continue to tell me that they want me in the class. I’m the type of player they want and also the type of person they want on the team.”

Florida State and Nebraska have become popular choices on the 247Sports Crystal Ball for Griffith, but he says he’s far from a decision.

“Some reporters like to boost their sites up,” Griffith said of the widespread speculation on his destination. “I haven’t named a leader, so I am not sure where they’re getting their information.”
