    Emory Jones
Jones once again proved why is he considered one the top quarterback prospects in the entire junior class on Friday against Temple High (GA).

Leading his Heard County (GA) team to an easy 41-0 victory, the four-star standout completed 16 of his 21 passing attempts for 259 yards and two touchdowns.

Georgia 5-star Emory Jones talks Buckeyes on podcast

On Wednesday night, we talked to 5-star Ohio State 2018 quarterback commitment Emory Jones about his weekend visit to Columbus. In Wednesday’s Dotting the ‘Eyes, Jones discussed three players he is personally recruiting the hardest. One of those players is fellow Georgian and 2018 5-star recruit offensive lineman Jamaree Salyer from Pace Academy in Atlanta. Salyer is the country’s 12th-ranked overall prospect for 2018.

Salyer has an Ohio State offer but he has not yet visited the Buckeyes and there is no plan in place at this time for a trip north. Nonetheless, it still seems that Jones, Urban Meyer and offensive line coach Greg Studrawa are steadily working themselves into the conversation.

During an appearance on the SEC Recruiting Buzz with Keith and Kip podcast earlier this week, the No. 2-ranked prospect in Georgia talked about the Buckeyes quite a bit.

“That’s always been one of my favorite schools, fan-wise, I love their tradition,” Salyer said. “Coach Meyer is doing a great job up there and Coach Stud, I talk to him as often as I can. If I don’t talk to him after a week, he calls me. They’ve got great people up there. I really want to get up there and see it.”

Salyer says Studrawa is one of two coaches recruiting him the hardest, along with Georgia offensive line coach Sam Pittman. As for what Studrawa is telling the 6-foot-4, 325-pound Salyer, it’s pretty simple: the Buckeyes staff thinks he can do it all.

“They look at me as more of a versatile lineman,” Salyer said of the Buckeyes plans. “I don’t think they really have a set position for me. I’d probably end up being an inside guy there, but who knows how much I could grow.”

Salyer, one of six rising juniors to participate in Nike’s The Opening this past July, said he’d like to have a college decision made by the time the event rolls around next summer.

Emory Jones injured, will miss 2-3 weeks
Ohio State 2018 quarterback commitment Emory Jones, a 5-star prospect at Franklin (Ga.) Heard County, will miss the next two or three weeks with a shoulder injury suffered on Thursday evening. The injury was first reported by Kevin Harrish of elevenwarriors.com, who was in Georgia for the game.

    So what happened?

“I stretched the ball out to score,” Jones told Landof10.com on Friday morning. “When I scored, someone came and hit me late. I separated my shoulder.”

When asked how he was feeling after a night of rest, the future Buckeyes signal-caller said he was in significant pain.

“I can’t move much,” Jones said while en route to see a doctor. “It’s killing me.”

After seeing the doctor Friday morning, Jones’ prognosis and treatment was pretty standard for an injury of this nature. It’s serious – and seriously frustrating – but not severe.

“They gave me a couple of shots and I’m just going to have a lot of ice on it,” Jones added. “No contact for a week and I’ll likely miss two or three games. It’s a low-grade AC joint separation.”

The 6-foot-2, 195-pound Jones, the nation’s second-ranked dual-threat quarterback in the 2018 class, also told Landof10.com that he’ll be back in Columbus, Ohio, one more time this season. He visited the Buckeyes for their home game against Rutgers on Oct. 1 and will return for the Nov. 26 showdown with Michigan.

He has such a good release on his throws it almost looks effortless. Nice touch on his passes as well. He'll be a star here.
