OSU has stopped perusing him. Best of luck at Florida. I still don't think Martell ever plays here, so he only had to sit behind Haskins. But a chance to be a starter next year is something too good to pass up

Apparently, Ohio State is ecstatic over Baldwin and did not want two quarterbacks in this class.

I think Ohio State got worn out with Jones' consistent visits and decided to go after another quarterback who IMO is light years ahead of Jones as far as playing quarterback.....

Honestly, I never saw the elite potential in Jones...............seemed like another project to me............then again I am not a quarterback guru or evaluator.........

Not to rip the kid but he consistently was looking for another place to land and he found it with no competition..........

There are several quarterback prospects in the 2019 class who have a higher ceiling than Jones who Ohio State has a legitimate chance at landing...........

Moving the thread out of the 2018 class............

    Best of luck...........

I bet Mullen will sign a JUCO quarterback also in this class after selling Jones on the depth chart...............LOL

Wow. This is so disappointing. Why is it so difficult for kids to understand that we are legitimately the best NFL pipeline in CFB under Meyer?

Look at the young talent we have playing on Sundays, and show me a university with a better track record.

Reminds me of the recruitment of Stefon Diggs, except that Jones isn't a "sure fire" NFL talent. I get that early PT is important, but if Urban Meyer is sold on you, you come here, put your head down and work for a few years, and he will get you your shot at the next level.

Oh well. On to the next one.

Not surprised...as mentioned by OSUB-ballJunkie, "the kid was always looking for another place"...Bucks are going to be O.K. with Haskins, Burrow, Martell and Baldwin...I think this might be a blessing in disguise.

    Go Bucks

To be fair, and I think you'll be the first to admit, we aren't exactly an NFL QB production facility.

...not that Florida or Alabama are either, though.

Agreed. Right now Dan Mullen has Dak Prescott as leverage. He's taking credit for his success, as well he should leverage that. The same way we use Hyde and Zeke. If a high profile QB has NFL aspirations, we can't use Braxton (as a QB) Cardale, or JT to say, "look what we are doing." Once we put one in the league and they become a successful pro, top tier QB's will be knocking down the doors and the WHAC.

Good luck behind that O-line...throwing to their WR’s, TE’s and handing off to the RB’s.

    TWO SIDES TO EVERY STORY

Four-star quarterback Emory Jones flip to Florida, meanwhile, was not a shock.
We reported Tuesday night Ohio State had moved on from Jones, and Meyer confirmed as much during his press conference earlier in the day.

Following his announcement, Jones gave his side of the story regarding how things fell apart with the Buckeyes.

“Throughout this, I told them I was committed and I was going to take visits, and they were alright with it,” Jones told 247Sports' Kipp Adams. “But then, when it got kind of close, they said I’m going to have to start taking other quarterbacks on official visits and all that.

Obviously, I understand that, and then they always said they would tell me if somebody else was about to commit just to let me know so I can make a quick decision. They took the other dude and didn’t let me know anything. The communication kind of died down.”

That would explain the Thinking Face Emoji Jones tweeted shortly after three-star quarterback Matthew Baldwin committed to Ohio State earlier this month. He said he had very little contact with the staff after that.

“They actually texted me like a week after and they were just saying I never gave them my full word and they had to move on,” Jones said. “They said if I still wanted to come there I would have to have a conversation with coach [Urban] Meyer. I just didn’t feel it was the best place for me to be.”

In the end, Jones ends up in a good spot. He gets to play for the first coach to offer him a scholarship and in a system — not all that different from the Buckeyes' — where he should thrive.

“What [Dan Mullen has] done with past quarterbacks, I feel I can come in and ball, he can develop me into a complete quarterback and as a man,” Jones said. “He says I actually have a chance to come in and play if I come in and work hard and get to know the system.”

^^^ actually that’s exactly how I figured it went...my wife is cool if I look, but I best be committed to her. Meaning I don’t flirt, touch, or get emotionally involved with anyone else. Jones was doing more than looking, so therefore he wasn’t committed.

Essentially what that means is our coaches were tired of him looking around and not being committed.

This is why you communicate to coaches you're committed to, and let them know if you're having doubts, looking around, etc.

Sounds like he was having doubts and wanted to see other schools, but wasn't responding to the coaches. Then, he seems to get upset when the staff moves on.

You had your shot to be here. Best of luck at Florida.
