INTRODUCING 2018 QUARTERBACK EMORY JONES

We've talked about the large number of potential 2018 quarterbacks for the Buckeyes, but that list is ever-growing, especially as we enter the 2016 spring evaluation portion of the recruiting calendar.

One new name to pay attention to is Emory Jones, a 6-foot-3, 195-pounder from Franklin, Georgia. This past weekend in Baltimore, Jones impressed everyone in attendance at the Rivals.com Quarterback Challenge Presented by Under Armour:

He took home the Strongest Arm award for throwing a 65-yard pass in the long toss competition, but his performance was impressive for more reasons than just his arm strength. Jones spins a beautiful football and has the ability to hit all points on the field.

Last weekend, Jones was in Knoxville, Tennessee visiting the Volunteers, a school that has been considered the runaway leader for his services for months, and where many expected him to issue a commitment during the trip. He didn't, thanks in part–according to this interview with Rivals' Mike Farrell, because Ohio State and others have begun talks with him and he wanted to slow things down.

The country's 41st-ranked player in 2018 has not been to Ohio State yet, but he told 11W that he'll be seeing them soon.

"Tim Beck got in touch with my coach," Jones, who informed Farrell that Ohio State was his "dream school," told Eleven Warriors. "They're coming to see me May 9th."

Thanks in part to the power of television–and the power of video games that helped Jones familiarize himself with the Buckeyes–the "dream school" feels comfortable already.

"I've always loved the school itself, and I feel like I fit in really well with the offense," Jones said when asked what he likes about Ohio State today. "I'm comfortable talking to the coaches."

It's uncertain if a Buckeye offer is coming his way, but Jones did tell 11W that he'd be visiting Ohio State either way this summer.

BECK SEES EMORY JONES, TOP 2018 QB TARGET NARROWING DATES FOR A VISIT

Let's stick to quarterbacks, but move to 2018. Franklin, Georgia's Emory Jones received another visit last week from Tim Beck, Ohio State's second-year quarterback coach.

The visit went well, according to Jones, the country's second-ranked dual-threat quarterback.

"It was great," Jones said of seeing Beck again. "He just wanted to meet my mom."

Jones has talked for the last few weeks about a June visit to Ohio State and although reports today pinpointed June 18th as the visit date, he says he's not sure if that's the case.

"I'm gonna be in Tennessee on the 18th," he said. "I still don't know which date I'm going up (to Ohio State)."

Though he doesn't know the date – and it may very well up being the 18th – Jones does know that he's ready to get to Columbus for the first time.

"I'm ready to get up there," he added. "I'm ready to see everything."

Ohio State is currently ahead of Tennessee as the 247Sports.com crystal ball leader for Jones.
