BREAKING DOWN ROB LANDERS COMMITMENT AND CEILING
Last night was a good night for the future of Ohio State football. Ohio State reeled in commitment number 24 for 2015, Huber Heights (Wayne) defensive lineman Robert Landers. While his ranking may leave Ohio State feeling unsatisfied, the discussion in and around Landers, his senior season and his future, should quell some of those concerns.

"Listen, we love this kid's game," one source close to the Buckeyes said. "Yeah, we got in a little bit late but that's not because we didn't know about him. He's not someone who has a lot of offers, but that's because he's not a kid who's done self-promoting and all that."

Understandable that in today's recruiting world, it's often he who makes the most noise and camp appearances that garners more attention. The recruits who stay off the radar these days are doing so on their accord; they let their game do the talking.

"Landers could be a beast if he gets in the program and puts in the work early," the source said. "He plays fast, he plays angry and he does it without running his mouth and telling everyone about it. That is the type of kid who succeeds, not just here, but anywhere."

And what of the concept that Landers' commitment eliminates the chase of Neville Gallimore, Christian Wilkins or Terry Beckner, Jr? Rubbish.

"Landers and those other guys are different types of players," he added. "Think of Landers as a Geno Atkins-type and the others as bigger, space-eating types. Different positions, different players and we'd like to get one more. If not, we're comfortable along the defensive line, we'll just need the guys on the roster who've not played much this year to take some big leaps."

Bonus: Which player is most likely to redshirt in 2015 and then have a breakout 2016 like Darron Lee did in 2014?
Ooh, I like this question. Unfortunately, I don't know that there will be such a guy. The player I keep thinking about here is defensive tackle Robert Landers, but I'm not so sure that he will redshirt. The roster says he'll start out fall camp at No. 6 or No. 7 on the depth chart. I'm not sure they will need him at all in 2015, but that is contingent upon guys like Michael Hill, Donovan Munger and Tracy Sprinkle stepping up. An extra year would also allow Mickey Marotti to mold Landers into something more equipped to handle his own athleticism.

    Robert Landers, DL

My second pick for a sleeper on the defensive side of the ball is incoming freshman defensive lineman Robert Landers. Similar to Berry, Landers was a later addition to the recruiting class. Defensive line, especially along the interior, is usually not a position where freshmen can make an impact. My pick for Landers is based upon Landers' strong performance in the Ohio high school state playoffs last season (which helped to secure Landers his Ohio State offer), as well as the departure of Michael Bennett to the NFL. In 2016 Ohio State will lose Adolphus Washington; it may behoove the coaching staff to get Landers onto the field for needed game experience this season. - See more at: http://athlonsports.com/college-foo...e-football-recruits-2015#sthash.iSt4RL5F.dpuf

    5. Robert Landers, DT

When the Buckeyes were down a couple of defensive tackles late last season, it was Robert Landers who nearly had his redshirt burned. Despite being an "undersized" freshman, Larry Johnson was looking to bolster his nose tackle depth chart with Landers' quickness and leverage. Instead, he stayed on the sidelines and will see his first true action in 2016. There are two defensive tackle spots available in the Buckeyes' starting lineup and Landers isn't a bad bet to win a job this coming season.
