Ohio State. Southern California. And Arizona State. In no particular order.

Scottsdale Saguaro defensive lineman Corey Adams this week narrowed it down to those three colleges, after his coach John Sanders was being bombarded by calls from major college coaches.

To curtail some of the madness, Sanders told Adams he's going to have to get it down. Basically, so Sanders can have a life outside of fielding inquiries for Adams this summer.

The brinking point came Sunday, when a reporter from Ohio called Sanders to let him know that Ohio State already had 24 commitments for the Class of 2009.

Sanders got with Adams to let him know he can't wait much longer.

"I tried to explain to Corey I want some answers, because soon it's going to be out of your hands," Sanders said. "They're going to be full at Ohio State. They're going to be full at USC.

"Because he's the local kid, Arizona State won't do anything without telling him first."

Sanders said the original plan was for Adams to announce his choice in January at the Under Armour All-American Bowl in Orlando, Fla., because Sanders will be the secondary coach and Adams will be a partcipant.

"We thought it would be fun," Sanders said. "But his hand might be forced (to do it earlier).

"The way recruiting is going on now, it's nuts. Colleges are pulling offers."

Corey Adams considers Under Armour game announcement
ESPN 150 Watch List defensive tackle Corey Adams told affiliate Web site WeAreSC.com he might commit on January 4th, 2009 at the second annual Under Armour All-America Game.

"Yeah, that's something coach (John) Sanders and I have discussed, since he'll be coaching at that game too. But we'll see what happens."

As previously stated, Adams' top three schools are USC, Ohio State and Arizona State.

He said of the group, "I don't have a leader yet, but I really like the schools I've chosen. USC and Ohio State have great tradition, and always bring in great talent, as well as send players to the pros. And I know the coaches at Arizona State very well. They are an up and coming program that is doing a lot of good things."

That's a good sign that we're in the top 3 without an official visit scheduled. I still think he's going to USC, but never say never.

The best thing about Adams is that he's an athletic DT. You don't see too many of those around.

    yep...my emotions exactly!
    we are desperate.
    we are in need.
come on [whoever]...do what i want!

and while you're at it, 'be' "unstoppable"...or else i will be really, honestly...uh...'disappointed'.

the circle of passion: is it possible i could be disappointed in the future...?! But my Buckeye passion is...the most "unstoppable" thing i know...and i keep finding myself reading some things i've so passioned before, afterwards, and wanting to do one of two things: reinvent it, or cover it up. Passionately, of course.... But...i just don't have the time - i'm too busy being ...passionate...about the next stimulus that 'came to me' from wherever, however.... GO BUCKS!

    DEPARTMENT OF DULLNESS BULLETIN
    common sense:
    >there is no human "unstoppable" force.
    >we are in a Scarlet heartbeat, from any position, any time, "in desperate need" to contact our Grey matter first IF we actually intend to discuss any matter. Except, of course, 'my feelings'....

I have to agree with that. I think he's going to be a star wherever he goes. Hopefully it's with us.

do these two general recruiting perspectives make sense to board members ... ?

first, fans and fan caterers do not seem to lack for hyperbole and repitition...to stay nothing of 'having opinions' and 'feels' from various bodily regions.... This means a search for reasoned, contextual, and empirical inputs amidst blizzards of buzz in a sea of emotion. IE even tougher than looking for needles in a haystack, since who cares about needles or haystacks when FOOTBALL is here?!

second, JT operates in great detail, and from now well into the future. So while we tend to buzz about one guy/list or another, in yes/no or over/under terms...JT's assessing a multitude of combinations and possibilities in some comparative Rubic's Cube. Substantive tidbits are 'out there' for a student of JT who wants to piece together out how he recruits and why - but there are not many who choose to pursue that, and a lot more who prefer to claim some sort of expert status. And, still more who, after guessing about something that turns out that way...feel that makes them 'right' and the other guy 'wrong'.

    ===to each his own.

My attitudinal choice [that i digress from often in one way or another] is to try to think and learn as a 'student of the game', rather than what i spent decades doing - gratifying myself with what others achieved. Often, trying to figure something out is not immediately 'exciting' or 'fun'. But if i stick with it...the rewards and uses become deeper, longer, and far more satisfying. Most of all, others making similar choices [whether we agree or not]...get in touch. Those kinds of contacts...last.

Ya, I am glad he had named us in his top five, but I think it will take a miracle to pull him away from the Pac-10. I might me wrong, but we have struggled in the past in Arizona. Just like with Kristopher O'Dowd (OL) in 2007. He ended up at USC, and I see a similar fate for Adams.

No idea when he's taking his visits. Not sure if he's even scheduled any yet, maybe fireman or Sandiego would know.
But I doubt he announces before signing day.

He's been in contact with our staff and wants to meet up with them in LA at the USC game.

Even though he'll be a guest of the Trojans, look for him to wonder over to our side during the game.

Corey told coach Peterson last week "save that scholarship for me".
