Latest offer to 2022 wide receiver
You could say this about multiple positions at Ohio State, but in this instance there may not be a spot better than wide receiver in terms of the Buckeyes’ recruiting success. Position coach Brian Hartline has truly taken the recruiting of his room to the highest level, and with the combination of landing elite talent and on-field development, you see results — such as what Chris Olave and Garrett Wilson are doing right now for this offense.

A trend that is repeating itself in every cycle, the Buckeyes are landing the nation’s top receivers and using them in ways that is guaranteed to keep the momentum going. When high-profile prep prospects who play receiver are seeing what Ohio State is able to do on Saturday and then look at the NFL to see former Buckeyes doing much of the same on Sunday, the recruiting pitch is pretty easy to make for Hartline and Ryan Day.

On Wednesday, Ohio State dished out their latest offer in the 2022 class to yet another elite receiver. Georgia native Kojo Antwi, a 6-foot-1, 185-pound prospect, was on the receiving end of this offer, as he announced via his Twitter account yesterday that Ohio State has entered his recruitment.

Ranked currently as the No. 23 receiver in the class and the 18th best player in Georgia for his 2022 class, Antwi holds over 25 offers from many of the nation’s top programs. With schools such as Alabama, Georgia, USC, Texas, Oregon, and a host of others already in the fold, it’s not hard to see why the Buckeyes are the latest to throw their hat into the ring.

As they have been for multiple years in a row, the Buckeyes are very much in the running and are perhaps the clear leader for the nation’s top receiver in the 2022 class, Caleb Burton. Though they continue to recruit the position at a pace never seen before, Hartline and Day are clearly content but never satisfied, always looking for more.

Moving forward, it wouldn’t be too surprising to see the Buckeyes become a serious player for Antwi if they are serious about their interest. After all, their recruiting pitch does speak for itself.

HARTLINE'S IMPACTFUL CALL JUST BEFORE CLEMSON GAME
Hours before he hit The Griddy dance to celebrate with Chris Olave after the bomb Olave hauled in for a 56-yard touchdown catch against Clemson, Brian Hartline was already looking to the future. He was working his feet by doing some ground work with a priority receiver in the 2022 class just before kickoff of the most important game of the Buckeyes' season.

About an hour and 15 minutes before Ohio State began its demolition of Clemson, says four-star Lambert (Georgia) receiver Kojo Antwi, Hartline was busy on the phone FaceTiming Antwi. It came as a major shock (of the good variety, of course) to the nation's No. 162 overall player and No. 19 receiver that Hartline would take that kind of time to speak with him.

“It was crazy. I wasn’t really expecting him to do that,” Antwi told Eleven Warriors. “He texted me at first, and he was just asking if I could get on the phone with him. I was like, ‘really?’ They’re about to play the semifinals game so I was really surprised when he texted me that. Just getting on the phone with him was great.

“It’s a big deal. No other receivers coach has done that with me. No other receivers coach has got on the phone with me just before game time except for Georgia. That’s only two schools that have really got on the phone with me before a game so it really means a lot.”

If anyone needed an indication of how big of a priority Antwi is for Hartline and the Buckeyes – or if you needed another example of Hartline being arguably the country top recruiters – you don't need to look much further than that quick call.

“(During the FaceTime before the Clemson game) he was telling me that I’m a big priority, that I’m the one that he wants and stuff like that. He’s always fired up when he’s talking to me and in a good mood and stuff like that,” Antwi said. “Coach Hartline is a great dude. He recruits the best, and he’s one of the best receivers coaches in the country. Just trying to be a part of that, you know?”

Antwi feels like a priority and a take by the Ohio State staff, and some of that stems from the traits the coaches love about him. That includes his versatility as a receiver, his big-play ability with the propensity to rattle off explosive plays and his speed. That overall game is why Hartline has been taking time on the side to give Antwi tips that he learned during his days in the pros.

“He’s been giving me a few tips,” Antwi said. “I’ve sent him a couple videos of the routes I run, and he’s been giving me some pro tips because he used to play in the NFL. So he’s been giving me tips and stuff like that, and I’ve been learning from him. That’s what I like.”

    STOCKTON PURSUING ANTWI
Speaking in January with four-star Lambert (Georgia) prospect Kojo Antwi, the nation's No. 19 receiver in the 2022 class told Eleven Warriors that there were three main programs going after him the most.

“I think Georgia and Ohio State are the two schools really coming at me hard,” Antwi said, also noting that the Crimson Tide were making a good push. “It’s either Bama or OSU for Receiver U. Bama’s been showing me love as well. I’ve gotten on the phone with Coach Saban a lot and talked with Coach (Holmon) Wiggins and Coach (Charles) Kelly a lot. I’ve seen a couple of their practices and FaceTimed with Jaylen Waddle, actually, which was crazy. Bama’s been showing me a lot of love, and that’s something that I like.

“(Georgia is) the homestate school. I really like the coaching staff, I’ve gotten on the phone with Kirby Smart a few times.”

Antwi said that he was pretty fired up about getting to speak with Smart and that the Bulldogs, like Brian Hartline and the Buckeyes, had made it crystal clear that he is a priority target.

Georgia is making an even more concerted effort in the hunt for the nation's No. 162 overall prospect, as recent five-star quarterback commit Gunner Stockton has begun his pursuit of the 6-foot-1, 185-pound wideout, 247Sports' Rusty Mansell reported from a 7-on-7 event over the weekend:

Gunner Stockton is not playing baseball this season for the first time so he can play with this team and recruit others to join him in Athens.

No question major targets are Kojo Antwi and Oscar Delp on this team, but so is Four-Star WR De’Nylon Morrissette . Antwi is nursing a hamstring so he was off to the side today. Stockton made sure every rep he took was with him.

Stockton is a huge piece of the 2022 class, by himself, but I think it will be a bigger addition when this class is said and done because he has wasted no time recruiting others. He called all of those guys personally right before his commitment went public to UGA

Antwi still hopes to hold off on a decision until he can take visits, notably to Ohio State. He has family in Ohio, and he has visited Cincinnati and visited Columbus once to see an uncle. He enjoyed his brief time in the city and hopes to visit again in April.

When he previously told us of a potential target date for a decision, Antwi said, “Hopefully before my senior year, so this summer. Hopefully the dead period doesn’t extend and I’ll take the majority of my visits and get a feel for what school I’m leaning to. Around July is when I’d commit.”

ANTWI LEAVES BUCKEYES OFF FINAL LIST
In keeping with the theme of highly prized 2022 receiver targets, Lambert (Georgia) four-star receiver Kojo Antwi is set to make his decision soon, and the Buckeyes are no longer part of the process.

Instead, the No. 94 overall player and No. 13 receiver who was moved into the top 100 last week, tells 247Sports' Rusty Mansell that he is down to Georgia, Alabama and Texas A&M in his final three and that he will be coming to a decision in the near future:

“I think I am down to three, Georgia, Alabama and Texas A&M,” Antwi said. “Just the relationship with the receiver coaches at those three schools, we all talk constantly , just really showed me they want me and I feel comfortable with them.”

Texas A&M seems to have quite a bit of momentum here, which is surprising considering his proximity to the Bulldogs and the fact that they have done a tremendous job in his recruitment. Having a brother very close to College Station, though, is making an impact as is the Aggies having him as their No. 1 receiver target on their board.

For Ohio State, C.J. Williams would likely take the top spot on its board with Kaleb Brown also there. Alternatively, the Buckeyes may elect to stick with two receivers in the class (though they would ideally like to land three in each class) or wait for another receiver target to pop up during the spring and summer camp/7-on-7 circuit.

Either way, it looks like Brian Hartline has clearly lost his recruiting touch.
