Because of how well Ohio State is recruiting, I am going to make a prediction and call the 2018 Buckeyes "The Best Team Of All Time." Let's take a look at the potential depth chart for that team...If the recruiting class remains in tact and we end up with some of the players that we think we get.

QB - Dwayne Haskins or Joe Burrow / Emory Jones
RB - Cam Akers / JK Dobbins / Antonio Williams
Pivot - DeMario McCall / Tyjon Lindsey
WR - Austin Mack / KJ Hill
WR - Trevon Grimes / Binjimin Victor
TE - AJ Alexander / Jake Hausmann
    LT - Isaiah Prince
    G - Michael Jordan
    C - Jack Wohlabaugh
    G - Wyatt Davis
    RT - Josh Myers

DE - Nick Bosa / Rashod Berry
NT - DaVon Hamilton / Jay Tufele
DT - Haskell Garrett / Robert Landers
DE - Jonathon Cooper / Chase Young
LB - Justin Hilliard / Antjuan Simmons
LB - Nick Conner / Tuf Borland
LB - Jerome Baker / Keandre Jones
SS - Jordan Fuller / Isaiah Pryor
    FS - Jeff Okudah / Eric Glover-Williams
CB - Shaun Wade / Amir Riep

Still a very long way to go until signing day so we have to hang on to class. But you know it's a good one when you can't figure out who's the crown jewel of the class.

I think Josh Myers plays Guard at OSU. His (my) high school runs the Wing-T offense where it's mostly run blocking. A lot of pulling and trap plays which OSU system does a lot. He's the prototypical size for an OG at OSU.

Do you think by that time Michael Jordan would move out to RT and Myers to Guard? That would be MJ's 3rd year and he definitely has the size to play RT.

Possible. I'm not saying Myers can't play Tackle, but I just think he's better suited to play Guard in OSU's system.

This all of course assumes that none of these guys turn out to be disappointments. That always happens and is unavoidable to a certain extent. However, I'd like to think that for every 5* recruit who doesn't live up to his potential you get a 3* who overachieves, so we should be in pretty good shape.

Of course...I am only making a prediction. There are some highly rated guys that I don't have on this depth chart. But then I have guys like Tuf Borland and Antjuan Simmons on because I really think they will be very good players. I just feel that we have recruited so well that if we have a miss at a position, we will have a great backup. For example, if Grimes doesn't live up to the 5 star ranking, we still have Mack, Victor, Hill, Stump, Lindsey, etc...There's no way that one of those guys is not going to be a stud and at least one or two more be very good. You could do that with every position group and do the same thing. Maybe with the exception of DT. We need to land Tufele and hopefully Landers, Barrow, Alabi, etc step up.

I went back and looked at this thread and realized I sold us way short! The 2017 class turned out to be much better that I had anticipated.

The scary thing is, our 2019 team will be unreal if even half the recruits live up to expectations. For example, we all believe Micah Parsons will be a Buckeye and he and Chase Young would likely be our starting DE's, one a JR and one a SO. The four man rotation that Larry Johnson likes to use would likely consist of Jonathon Cooper and Brenton Cox. That's four 5 star recruits in the DE rotation.

You could do that with just about every position on the field. Incredible what the staff is building right now. And I keep hearing people say that Michigan and Penn State are about to take over the BigTen. I guess they're not paying attention.

I’m bumping this thread because so much has changed but I still feel really good about the 2018 team! Maybe not the greatest team of all time. But we shall see.

Let’s look at the potential two deep for next year.

QB - Dwayne Haskins / Joe Burrow
RB - JK Dobbins / Mike Weber
HB - Parris Campbell / KJ Hill
WR - Austin Mack / Ben Victor
WR - Johnnie Dixon / Terry McLauren
TE - AJ Alexander / Rashod Berry
LT - Isaiah Prince / Joshua Alabi
LG - Michael Jordan / Malcom Pridgeon
    C - Wyatt Davis / Brady Taylor
RG - Demetrius Knox / Matt Burrell
RT - Branden Bowen / Thayer Munford

DE - Nick Bosa / Jonathan Cooper
DT - DreMont Jones / Jashon Cornell
DT - Antwan Jackson / Taron Vincent
DE - Chase Young / Brenton Cox
LB - Jerome Baker / Justin Hilliard
LB - Tuf Borland / Pete Werner
LB - Baron Browning / Dante Booker
CB - Damon Arnette / Shaun Wade
SS - Jordan Fuller / Wayne Davis
FS - Isaiah Pryor/ Jahsen Wint
CB - Jeffery Okudah / Kendall Sheffield

Talent talent talent!!!! Let’s just hope that team plays loose and balls out!

Weber will be gone, but we have DeMario McCall behind Dobbins.

I have a feeling Ward jumps, but if he stays, WATCH OUT.

3rd year players to watch (key playmakers highlighted in Red)

    DEFENSE
    DL Sam Hubbard (RS JR)
    DL Dre'Mont Jones (RS SO)
    DL Jashon Cornel (RS SO)
    DL Robert Landers (RS SO)

    LB Jerome Baker (JR)
    LB Dante Booker (RS JR)

    DB Damon Arnette (RS SO)
    DB Kendall Sheffield (TR SO)

    DB Denzel Ward (JR)

    OFFENSE
    WR Johnnie Dixon (RS JR)
    WR Terry McLaurin (RS JR)
    WR Paris Campbell (RS JR)
    WR KJ Hill (RS SO)

    WR CJ Saunders (JR)
    OL Malcolm Pridgeon (RS JR)
    OL Brady Taylor (RS JR)

    OL Demetrius Knox (RS JR)
    OL Matthew Burrell (RS SO)
    OL Isaiah Prince (RS JR)
    TE Rashod Berry (RS SO)
    QB Joe Burrow (RS SO)

    RB Mike Weber (RS SO)

When highlighting key playmakers, that's 11 potential jumps this year. I think that we can realistically limit that to 3-4 jumps, and have a CRAZY deep team next year. I'm personally hoping that we can sell Baker, Hubbard, Ward, Knox, Prince, and the WR corps on a championship run in 2018. If we can keep those players, LOOK OUT.

Hubbard is gone. He took part in the Senior Tackle.

I’d love to see Ward come back but he’s a 1st round pick and is gone.

I honestly think the rest return. Baker has fallen out of the 1st round. He could come back and improve his stock.

Prince is still not ready. He could come back, move to LT and work himself into a 1st round pick. But I see him returning.

Of the WR’s, Dixon is the only one I see that might go. And that’s because of his injury history. If he has a chance to go get paid, do it! But he’d be a late round pick. He could return and let Haskins make him a 2nd or 3rd rounder.

McCall is still an unknown. JK’s backup, if Weber goes, is probably Antonio Williams. He’s looked good and the two guys coming in are ballers!

I didn't realize that about Hubbard ... He's gone, but I think we might actually be more athletic on the edge without him.

Ward is the major key bc he is the best player, but I think he's gone as well.

If everyone else comes back (and I think they should), then this team is in VERY good shape for next season.

For sure! Okudah replaces Ward. I like Arnette, he’s been solid all year! Hopefully Shaun Wade steps up.

We know our defensive front will be dominant. If Baker comes back, we will have some really good LB’s. Browning will be a star.

Even if Ward jumps I think the secondary will be improved. Fuller has turned into a really good Safety and I think Pryor is going to be really good. I’d love to see Sheffield move to Safety, too. I think he’d be a lot better there. He doesn’t seem to have the hips to play corner.

If any of those three stay, WATCH OUT.

Baker and Ward are more important than Hubbard bc of depth alone.

Ward is honestly the only player on this defense that is capable of starting at the next level from day 1, and I think he needs to land on the right team to do so.

Baker can move up into Shazier/Lee draft territory with another year under his belt IMO.

Hubbard might already be as developed as he can get. I don't see another year doing much for him.

Ward is ready. Baker needs 1 more yeast... Hubbard is at or near his ceiling, agree.
