I think we have enough experience/talent and depth to find the right combination to become a good offensive line............the issue is we have just one game to get it straight before Miami comes into the shoe.........

Spring Back: Linebackers Anchor 2010 Defense
By Brandon Castel
COLUMBUS — Spring camp is over at Ohio State, but what did it all mean?
The Buckeyes won’t be back together on the practice field until August when they open fall camp in preparation for the 2010 season-opener against Marshall. As the players move into summer conditioning, we look back by position at how things look now compared to what we expected heading into spring practice back on April 1.
We begin our “Spring Back” series with a look at the linebackers.
Key losses: Austin Spitler (Miami Dolphins, Pick No. 252)
Returning lettermen: Ross Homan, Brian Rolle, Storm Klein, Andrew Sweat, Etienne Sabino
Spring newcomers: None
Help is on the way: Scott McVey (St. Ignatius), Chad Hagan (Canonsburg, Pa.)

Spring Back: Corners Provide Veteran Leadership for OSU Secondary
By Brandon Castel
COLUMBUS — Spring camp is over at Ohio State, but what did it all mean?
The Buckeyes won’t be back together on the practice field until August when they open fall camp in preparation for the 2010 season-opener against Marshall. As the players move into summer conditioning, we look back by position at how things look now compared to what we expected heading into spring practice back on April 1.
Wednesday we kicked off our “Spring Back” series with a look at the linebackers, where the Buckeyes return two starters from last year’s Rose Bowl winning team. They also return two starters at the cornerback position, which will anchor a secondary that must replace both starting safeties, including team MVP Kurt Coleman.
Key losses: Andre Amos
Returning lettermen: Devon Torrence, Chimdi Chekwa, Donnie Evege
Spring newcomers: None
Help is on the way: Christian Bryant (Glenville), Bradley Roby (Suwanee, Ga.)

Buckeyes expect O-line triad to turn corner
April, 26, 2010 Apr 263:55PM ETEmail Print Share
By Adam Rittenberg
Before the Rose Bowl, Ohio State quarterback Terrelle Pryor and head coach Jim Tressel met and discussed how the game marked the halfway point of Pryor's career.
It was a midterm exam, in front of 92,000 proctors. And Pryor aced it.
But Pryor isn't the only member of Ohio State's decorated 2008 recruiting class to reach halftime in Columbus.
As Pryor delayed his college decision on national signing day in 2008, much of the buzz at Ohio State swirled around three decorated offensive line prospects: Michael Brewster, Mike Adams and J.B. Shugarts. All three players were ESPNU 150 selections. ESPN recruiting ranked Brewster and Shugarts as the nation's No. 2 and No. 3 offensive tackle prospects, while Adams ranked No. 8.
All three are now preparing for their junior seasons at Ohio State.
"They're at the midpoint of their careers, not unlike Terrelle," head coach Jim Tressel said. "You'd like to think that they can be real good leaders and good veterans."
Pryor's development in the second half of his career likely will determine whether Ohio State wins a national title for the first time since 2002, but equally as important, if not more so, is the progression of his classmates on the offensive line.
"Adams, Brewster and Shugarts have now all gotten their feet more than wet now for a couple years," offensive coordinator/offensive line coach Jim Bollman said. "Going into their third year, now it's time for them to really start kicking it in."

Spring Back: No Substitute for Experience at Safety
By Brandon Castel
COLUMBUS — There were few players more valuable to Ohio State’s 11-2 season in 2009 than safety Kurt Coleman, which is probably why he was named the team’s MVP a year ago. Not only did the senior out of Clayton Northmont tie for the team-lead with five interceptions, he also finished third on the team with 68 tackles to go with a team-high three forced fumbles.
He may not have been as vocal as Doug Worthington or Brian Rolle, as productive as Ross Homan or as feared as Thad Gibson, but it would be hard to make a case against Coleman as the heart and soul of Ohio State’s ‘Silver Bullets’ defense.
And if losing one three-year starter on the back end wasn’t enough, the Buckeyes also lost fellow senior Anderson Russell, who had also been back there for three seasons.
“I think it's part of the deal, you lose a lot with those guys and the most thing you lose is a lot of production because Kurt had a lot of production,” OSU safeties coach Paul Haynes said.
“You're not just trying to put two guys out there, you're trying to put two guys out there who are productive, we'll always have a guy to put out there, but we need a productive guy.”
Key losses: Kurt Coleman (Philadelphia Eagles, pick 244), Anderson Russell
Returning lettermen: Jermale Hines, Orhian Johnson, C.J.Barnett, Nate Oliver, Aaron Gant, Zach Domicone
Spring newcomers: None
Help is on the way: Verlon Reed (Marion Franklin), Chad Hagan (Canonsburg, Pa.)

Spring Back: Depth Unprecedented at Tailback
By Brandon Castel
COLUMBUS — All the talk was about Terrelle Pryor, but it was Ohio State’s ability to run the football that directly resulted in their 11-2 season a year ago.
After rushing for only 66 yards in their 26-18 loss at Purdue, the Buckeyes re-committed themselves to the power run game the rest of the year. Over the next four games, they averaged over 254 yards on the ground, including 236 rushing yards per game in November, a month where they faced two of the top run defenses in the Big Ten.
As a result they finished tops in the conference in rushing offense during the regular season. They were led by Brandon Saine (749 yards, 4 TDs) and Boom Herron (600 yards, 7 TDs) and with their top four rushers back from a year ago, the Buckeyes could be one of the most dangerous offenses in the conference in 2010.
In our latest “Spring Back” piece we take a look at the tailback position, which overcame a number of injuries this spring thanks to its unprecedented depth.
Key losses: None
Returning lettermen: Brandon Saine, Boom Herron, Jordan Hall
Spring newcomers: Carlos Hyde (Fork Union Military Academy)
Help is on the way: Roderick Smith (Fort Wayne, Indiana)
