Are you a groper or a grasper?
I've repeated my long-held personal opinion recently that John Porentas of the OZone sometimes displays rare insight and perspective into Ohio State football. Today, JP 'made me' do it again. He...'forced me'.
wacko psycho!
too long, too confusing, too much, too not what i want...that JP truly is...is [insert your favorite feeling or epithet here!]
Below is JP's latest. In it he explains very SIMPLY ...what any person needs to understand in order to START discerning the wheat from the chaff in the blizzards of stuff about our nearly beloved, totally possessed, KingSport. Sport.
Of course there's only one little catch: to undertand his reasoning, you need to use...reasoning!
Enjoy! I sincerely hope your head hurts.

[ this...is...sarcasm] Please, oh please, do NOT respond with any substance or questions! That's...so wrong. Let's just shout out all about our feelings.... It's...so exciting!

what i "loved" was Steve Rehring's willingness to describe some cons along with the pros.
now i fess up i 'truly, honestly LUVED the bestest ever' that TP 'wow'.
that is...until i got so depressed it was in practice instead of vs USC....
===now, don't think about it, but, 'love' describes what keeps giving; and LUV describes what i can never take enough of and always crave more of....

Porentas and Genderman are actually quite talented writers. I enjoy their columns very much. The "Buckeye Watch" article always makes me laugh out loud at least once.

fortunately for me, in several years of reading and observing, i cannot begin to count the value and contribution of MANY Buckeyes [and even some of 'them' Over The Fence] ... .
insight, humor, perspective, a good example - these things no man can steal from another, and no status guarantees a person 'possesses' it.
not that we don't try to steal it, and claim we own it! GO BUCKS!

here's another one from Porentas, interviewing Coach Bollman. I swear on a stack of frozen fish i didn't read this before putting "groper" in the thread title.
The-Ozone, Ohio State Football, Wrestling, Softball, Basketball, Hockey, Baseball and More
now shall we all go into a deep conflicted panic, or construct a 3 story IGNORE button, just because Coach Bollman well and thoroughly punctured two of the finest football Buckeye 'size' mantras ever? Let's take a poll? LOL
'whatever' we do, let's not LEARN from what Coach Bollman has said, let alone actually APPLY it to something useful?
Your bulking uppest ever pal, Bulk...er Buck, 68.

the OZ is on fire this AM...must be a football weenie roast goin' on over there!
in this classic, we rediscover for the upteenth time what we already knew and completely forget in order to get totally re-excited about Holy Buckeye...about once every time a Buckeye re-ran his video....
O-Zone: Holy Buckeye confession from JT
kinda takes this latest re-confession to "a whole new level", eh? Er, the next level of the Same Ol' Kind of Level? How can this NOT be fun?

Here's the alpha and omega from Porentas on Buckeye football.
The-Ozone, Ohio State Football, Wrestling, Softball, Basketball, Hockey, Baseball and More
suggestion: care-fully read the last two paragraphs. Does this represent JP's conclusions? JP's assessment of how it should be? JP's assessment of how JT sees it? An accurate relay of how JT DOES 'see it'?
i don't know. Do you? However, it is 'nice' to at least have a grasp of where someone else is coming from....
then, 'think' about the content, the signficance of this approach to competitive problem solving, and the treatment of all conflicting views to the 'mindset' espoused.
===as the old military saying goes about an aspiring soldier trying to bring critical thinking skills to a table of mindsets...
"...one Delta Sierra, son, wipes out a thousand attaboys."
===as our Buckeyes embark on their noble pursuit of The Holy Grail and 3rd Charming...
armed with their many strengths and motivations...
...the Man in the Mirror, remains our own worst enemy, because he is the prism that filters White [representing all colors=university] into the Primary Colors [the Diversity of my special colors] through which we perceive reality and conflict...and try to overcome it.
the two concluding paragraphs in JP's article, reaffirm a 'mindset' that constitutes the worst Twin Towers of Blinders of our traditions unencumbered by progress: The Sure Way, and anyone who says different is a traitor.
the consequences of such blinders, regardless of intention, throughout history, have populated the cemeteries and unknown locations worldwide, with many a soldier 'just following orders'. And, for that matter, many a civilian - from one in noble pursuit, to aiding & abetting, to merely bystanding.... Such are the legacies of the vagaries of men.
Have you ever ordered men into battle...with one hand tied behind their back? Have you ever ordered willing and able and striving men...into battle... after intentionally removing some of their armor, some of their weapons, some of their competitive options?
Sobering? JT's problem? Rather, isn't that every man's [ meaning, adult person in the maturity and accountability sense] problem...and no selfish person's problem?
So...the season has come,
From 'can't wait'? No,
from come what may.
And Now they go,
in the Fierce Urgency of Now
into the Fray.
that on another day
will be the crucible
for man, parent, soldier,
leader, follower...me.
That 'another day'
is always TODAY.
That 'what the other guy should do'
is always about me, and do.
GO BUCKS!
in time and change
in F.U.N. and Good fight
deliver your message
with all your might.
Godspeed! [He does].

it's not that we get lost that's significant...it's if and how we recover.
from Jan 1, 1970 to 1989 we lost game after game to USC using that traditional mindset Porentas identifies at his close. A hot streak that rivals the SEC bowl record...due to other varieties of the same negative, avoidance mindset.
The Miracle Drive in Jan 1997.... Just the term "miracle" indicates we don't know why or how we...got a different result.
Will i root for da Buckeyes like crazy vs SC? You bet...and any other game. Would i like to contribute to our continuing 'lost state' by keeping my head in the sand so i can 'be loyal'? No thanks.
