One of state’s top guards adds Big Ten offer, another visit set
38 minutes ago | Written by Kyle Neddenriep |
Evansville Bosse standout sophomore JaQuan Lyle picked up his sixth offer today, according to Shane Burkhart, his high school coach.
The 6-4 Lyle, ranked as the No. 2 point guard in the country by Scout.com and No. 13 overall nationally, picked up an offer from Ohio State today while attending the Buckeyes’ 64-49 win over Michigan on an unofficial visit.
Lyle now has offers from Indiana, Purdue, Illinois, Michigan State and Xavier, in addition to Ohio State.
Burkhart said Lyle has an unofficial visit planned on Feb. 11 to Marquette. A visit to DePaul is also likely coming in the near future.
Lyle has helped Class 3A Bosse to a 14-3 record and a No. 6 ranking in the state.

Ohio State offers Bosse's Lyle a scholarship
Louisville's Pitino up next
EVANSVILLE — For Bosse High School sophomore guard JaQuan Lyle, the number of NCAA Division I scholarship offers has swelled to six.
Ohio State University's men's basketball program has joined Indiana, Purdue, Illinois, Xavier and Michigan State. All have made formal offers to Lyle, who cannot sign a binding national letter of intent until November of his senior year.
Bulldogs coach Shane Burkhart said University of Louisville coach Rick Pitino will come to Bosse to visit with Lyle on Friday.
A 6-foot-4, 202-pounder, Lyle attended the Michigan at Ohio State men's basketball game on Jan. 29. OSU associate head coach Dave Dickerson scouted Lyle when the Bulldogs played Vincennes Lincoln on Jan. 7. Lyle, still only 15 years old, later met Buckeyes head coach Thad Matta.
"JaQuan is excited," Burkhart said. "He's been playing well and proving himself to the team and to his coaches. He's putting in extra time and is doing a great job when he's put into situations. Some big-
time schools are starting to show really strong interest."
Lyle is averaging 18 points, eight rebounds and six assists for Bosse, which is ranked No. 7 in Class 3A. The Bulldogs (16-4) will play at Mount Vernon tonight, then wind up their regular season at home against Reitz on Friday.
Bosse will play Gibson Southern at 6 p.m. next Tuesday in the first round of the Class 3A Boonville Sectional.
"It's an exciting time for him and Bosse basketball," Burkhart said. "It's an exciting time for him and his family."
Lyle is ranked as the No. 3 point guard in the nation by ESPNU's class of 2014. As a freshman, Lyle averaged 15.4 points, 8.3 rebounds and 3.7 assists in helping spark Bosse to a 19-7 record and its first 3A sectional title since 2007.

Five Star Guard Working Hard on Improving...........A top ten prospect in the 2014 class says he simply can't stay out of the gym. In fact the Indiana native wants to be the most complete offensive player in his class.
