Lamaar Thomas leaving the Buckeyes for New Mexico

Sophomore kick-returner/receiver Lamaar Thomas has transferred from Ohio State to New Mexico.

From Friendly (Ft. Washington, Md.), Thomas caught four passes for 29 yards as a freshman and one pass for 10 yards during 2009 for the Bucks. As the OSU's No. 1 kick returner, Thomas averaged 21.6 yards on 16 returns as a freshman and 20.9 on 18 tries this past season.

A running back in high school, he had only one carry at Ohio State for six yards as a sophomore.

The 5-foot-11, 185-pound Thomas caught the first pass of Terrelle Pryor's OSU career against Youngstown State in 2008.

A two-year letterman at Ohio State, he will redshirt as a transfer during the 2010 season and have two years remaining for the Lobos.
