Well that is the exceptional thing that makes someone of Thomas' abilities so valuable. He can play a little bit of running back too. You are right in statig that he will not be a running back primarily. But he could fill in there if there is a Wells transfer, or an injury or two. Thomas is guy that could present so many things to challenge a defense though. Even if Beanie and Devoe are your road graders at the position. You can spread Thomas out wide, in the slot, or have him come out of the backfield in motion situations to get him one on one with a LB. He is a guy who can create mismatches in the passing game that Beanie and Devoe won't. IF THE STAFF USES HIM CORRECTLY.
