This game is going to be decided by the offensive lines. PSU's and our D-lines are awesome and both our O-lines have been subject to injury and suspect to poor play. Both teams are going to get to the QB it just depends on who will allow it to happen less. Also, when Clark is pressured he will be able to create plays with his arm while Pryor, when pressured will try to make plays with his feet. If Pryor can make good decisions under pressure (i.e. not hurl the ball into triple coverage) then I like our chances.
This game (recently) has come down to one final drive for both teams late in the 4th quarter. If we score late and take the lead, our defense has to come out and hold PSU. On the other hand (and this has been our demise against PSU the last two times we lost to them) if PSU scores late in the 4th, then we need to come out and put together a real drive (i.e. more than a 3 and out ) and move down the field for the win.

OSU football: Kicking situation still undecided, Tressel says

THE COLUMBUS DISPATCH
Ohio State's preparation for its most important date yet this season -- a criticial Big Ten game at Penn State on Saturday -- will include a kickers' derby, it seems.
No. 1 kicker Aaron Pettrey is out for the rest of the season, and thus the rest of his college career, because of a knee injury suffered last week against New Mexico State. OSU coach Jim Tressel said at his weekly media luncheon today that though former professional soccer player Devin Barclay replaced Pettrey against New Mexico State, the team will look at Ben Buchanan this week, too.
Buchanan missed last week's game because of illness, but Tressel anticipates a competition between the two the next couple of days.
"So between Devin and Ben, we've got to step up," Tressel said. "I'm not sure any of us expected that, but that's part of football."
Pettrey was expected to undergo surgery on his right knee today. Tressel said he expects him to fully recover, and Pettrey might be able to play in the Texas vs. The Nation college all-star game in Houston in mid-January.

OSU notebook: Kick-off to determine starter

THE COLUMBUS DISPATCH
When kicker A goes down, it makes sense to turn to kicker B. But the question Ohio State coaches must answer this week, in the wake of losing Aaron Pettrey for the rest of the year, is whether kicker B will be Devin Barclay or Ben Buchanan.
Jim Tressel said the two will engage in what amounts to a kicking derby in preparation for Saturday's critical Big Ten game at Penn State.
"So between Devin and Ben, we've got to step up," Tressel said.
Barclay, a former professional soccer player, took Pettrey's place after the injury in the first half of the win over New Mexico State. Buchanan, formerly of Westerville Central, missed his chance because he was ill and not at the game.
"If we had a game this moment, Devin would kick off and kick field goals because I haven't seen Ben for a week," Tressel said at mid-day yesterday. "But we have Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday practices."

Big Ten power or paper Lions?
Penn State still has critics despite its 8-1 record

THE COLUMBUS DISPATCH
By November, football teams aren't supposed to be mysteries.
For better or worse, a team's identity usually has been revealed and a consensus forms about its quality. That's especially the case for traditional powers such as Penn State.
With the Nittany Lions this season winning by an average margin of 21 points, allowing a nation-low 9.3 points per game and outgaining opponents by 174 yards per game, it might be expected that most fans and observers would be won over by such statistics. But not everyone has hopped aboard the bandwagon.
Yes, the Nittany Lions are 8-1 heading into Saturday's game against visiting Ohio State. They have a seasoned, talented quarterback in Daryll Clark, a solid running back in Evan Royster and some blossoming receivers. They have, as usual, a stifling defense.

Ohio State football: According to Penn State, it will be the "Terrelle Cryer'' show on Saturday
By Starting Blocks
November 03, 2009, 6:36PM

Daily CollegianOhio State will get the "White Out'' look from the Penn State crowd on Saturday
With Saturday's Ohio State-Penn State game closing in, the crucial Big Ten contest could always use a little more spice.
The Penn State Marketing Association has done its part with a "white-out" shirt for the game. It portray's Ohio State quarterback Terrelle Pryor wiping his tears as a consoling Nittany Lion lends an arm.
'The Daily Collegian goes into the whole concept of "The Nutcracker: A Terrelle Cryer Story.''
Penn State Marketing Association (PSMA) President Dan Sturman (senior-marketing) said his club is excited about the shirt, especially its focus on Pryor.
"After we beat Ohio State last year, you couldn't walk through a dorm without seeing the picture of Terrelle Pryor with his head in his hands," Sturman said. "That vivid image is still on everyone's mind."
Well, what's a big rivalry without a few digs. The Buckeyes, who lost this game last year, 13-6, after a key fumble by Pryor, will try to turn those shirts into giant hankies for the tearful PSU followers.
