The best running team of the last five years or so, against the best run defense over that same period.
The option attack should be a good test for our new(ish) linebackers.

Personally, I think we handle them very well. I can see this helping us prepare for USC by making our younger guys play more disciplined assignments.

This game at first glance seems like it should be an easy win to open the season in Columbus. But upon further review, it will be tougher than expected for a couple of reasons.
First, Navy is a decent program and an excellent rushing team that has led the nation in rushing four straight years.
Last years featured running back Shun White is gone but the Midshipmen have a star QB in the making in Ricky Dobbs, who can both run and throw very well.
Secondly, it's impossible for the OSU players to not be thinking about week two when USC comes to town. Terrelle Pryor and the Bucks have not forgotten the embarrassing loss in the L.A. Colisuem last September and that's another reason why the Navy game could end up a thriller, a-la Ohio vs. OSU 2008, the week before the USC game in L.A.

Ohio State is a daunting test, but Navy is ready for opener

Mids relish the chance to face Buckeyes
Any notion that the Navy football team might have had about easing into the 2009 season was dispelled when the Midshipmen discovered their opening-game opponent -- Ohio State.
"September fifth, 12 p.m., Eastern time," says Navy quarterback Ricky Dobbs, the date firmly imprinted in his memory.
That's when the Midshipmen will make the long walk down the tunnel in Columbus and emerge in front of 100,000 mostly red-clad fans at the Buckeyes' monstrous stadium, a.k.a. "The Horseshoe."
It's an atmosphere the Midshipmen have never experienced. But don't expect them to feel like the Christians being led into the Coliseum in Rome.
"Walking into that stadium in front of 100,000 fans, it's going to be awesome. I can't wait to experience that," said senior guard and co-captain Osei Asante. "I think it will be a life-changing experience."
For some it's been an underwear-changing experience. But for the Mids, coming off an 8-4 season and their sixth straight bowl appearance, it's an opportunity to showcase their discipline, their propensity to overachieve, and their confounding option offense, which has led the nation in rushing four straight seasons.

I'll be there for my first game.
Any chance we can get a countdown on the top right again?

I'm working on the countdown clock. The original code, which I forgot to transfer, is on my other computer which isn't hooked up right now. I'll get something together though.

You better believe that the Middies will be ready for us.. however will we be ready for them or will we already be in cruise mode to week two? That remains to be seen..

i think this will be a solid test for our team. i just hope we don't overlook this team. their running attack could pose a problem if we are not in the game mentally.
