Alter QB getting scholarship offers from major D-I schools
By Marc F. Pendleton, Staff Writer
11:13 AM Tuesday, October 4, 2011
Among his many attributes, Alter QB Malik Zaire may well be the only area football player ever to receive a college athletic scholarship offer without ever starting a varsity game.
The junior landed an offer from Cincinnati last July following an outstanding camp at UC. He has since received an offer from Wisconsin.
According to ScoutingOhio.com, he also has drawn interest from Notre Dame, Ohio State and Michigan State.
Zaire didn’t start until this season, as a junior. He’s helped lead the Knights to a 6-0 record and No. 2 ranking in the state Division IV poll. Alter plays Carroll at West Carrollton Junior High in the DDN Game of the Week on Friday.
Zaire, 6 feet 1, 185 pounds, is a rare combination of fleet feet and accurate passing ability. He prepped at Precious Blood Catholic School in Trotwood and backed up former Alter starting QB Zane Pitzer for two seasons.

First Half Highlights – 2013 QB Malik Zaire..................
Film Review: 2 videos.........one passing and one running...............Zaire shows a quick release and is playing in a spread option offensive scheme............nice touch on his passes and has the arm strength to throw the opposite hash...........shows good feet in the pocket and stays patient for a first year starter, obviously he can get out of the pocket and throw on the run........needs to work on better passing fundamentals and eliminating throwing off of his back foot
Film Review: Zaire is lethal in this type of spread option look..........great balance and not easy to bring down even in a pile............has great speed....a true dual threat quarterback.

I like this kid already. '13 class looks like they have some solid options at QB. We have to land a couple in this class.

Junior QB set to visit Northwestern
October, 21, 2011 Oct 212:53PM ETEmail Print Comments
By Jared Shanker
Kettering (Ohio) Archbishop Alter junior quarterback Malik Zaire is focused on an undefeated season and winning a state championship, but Zaire also has his eyes to the future, too.
On Saturday, Zaire will travel to Northwestern to check out the Wildcats’ game against Penn State. It will be Zaire’s first time visiting Northwestern, a school he knows little about at this point.
“I don’t know too much about them, so I’m hoping to find out a lot about them when I go there this weekend,” Zaire said. “They got a good quarterback in Dan Persa; they got a good backup [Kain Colter]. I’m just going to get familiar with the place and see how it is.”
